Ingredients

  • 1 lb red kidney beans raw
  • 10½ cups water½

Instructions

OVERNIGHT

  • Soak 1 lb beans with 10 cups water. Soaking speeds up the cook time and easier digestion.
  • Drain, place in pot and cover again with 10 cups water.
  • Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer. 
  • Simmer 45 minutes.
  • Drain.
  • ¾

Notes

16 oz dry = 39 oz cooked = 6 ½ cups.
Serving is ½ cup.
Can freeze up to 6 months.
1 ½ to 1 ¾ cup equals a 15 oz can.
